Knowledge Base:  Hosting - Site Management System cPanel:  Email - Changing your default email address
Details:
Changing your default email address

Overview
The default email address will "catch" any mail that is sent to an invalid email
address for your domain. All mail that is sent to an address that does not exist will
go to the default email address.

Note: Default email addresses are strongly discouraged due to
the ease with which spammers can spam you. We highly recommend that you
create a valid email box or a redirect for each address from which you wish to
receive mail.

Steps

1 Click the "Default Address" Icon in the mail section of the cPanel interface.

2. Select "Discard with error to sender (at SMTP time)" (Highly Recommended) Or
you can choose to have the mail forwarded to another email address.

3. Click on Change to change the default email address.

Troubleshooting

If you wish to have invalid emails send an error back to their sender, use :fail: as
the new default address. If you wish to have invalid emails disappear,
use :blackhole: as the new default address.
